Not only was yesterday Monday but it was also my first full day back to work after the winter break. Or as I’m now calling it, the day that just wouldn’t start.
My Sweetie kissed me good-bye before he left for work and I promptly rolled over and went back to sleep. When I say “rolled over” I mean onto my stomach. Since my spine is fused, my back doesn’t flex where it needs to in order to sleep in that position. But my bed was so comfy that I didn’t care. So I snuggled deep into my pillow for an hour with my back muscles pulling against two titanium rods. The rods won.
I woke up with the sun streaming in the window and a smile on my face until I realized that I needed to leave for work in 15 minutes. Why didn’t anyone wake me up? The boys still had one last day of vacation so they were sleeping in. Molly was zonked out in the other room and therefore not jonesing for a car ride and pulling me out of bed bodily.
I made it out the door to work after making a few timesaving sacrifices such as not making my lunch. I was still late to work but at least I made it in time for my first meeting. Then another meeting. Then run out for lunch. Then guess what! A surprise visit from the local news channel.
That’s right. I was interviewed for the local news on the day that I decided to skip applying make-up in an effort to save time. My make-up routine isn’t extensive. But a little bit of mascara and eyebrow pencil go a long way on a redhead with blonde eyelashes and eyebrows.
Did I mention that it was breezy and my hair kept blowing in my mouth as I spoke? I managed to avoid the news last night and so far today any video clips that might exist on the internet.
The rest of the day had me scurrying to and fro without feeling like I accomplished anything. By the time I left the office, the knot in my back was spasming and I was pooped. I hopped in my car and realized that needed gas and milk and bread…
At home dinner needed to be cooked, laundry folded, Christmas tree undressed, essays proofread…
The day that wouldn’t start finally ended late. Very late. Ever have a day like that?

Those kind of day totally suck. Everytime I try to sneak out without makeup...never fails that I see someone I know!
Oh man. Tough break. But I know it went smoothly and you looked great nonetheless! How's it going there at work?
An interview on a day you were not ready and not made up?? NO FAIR.
But I agree with the above; I'll bet you rocked it anyway!
