OK, all of you in the north country maybe tired of my cold weather stories. What's the big deal, right?
This morning we woke up to a nippy 29 degrees. You've got to understand that we can go several winters without a single freeze. Last night was the third night in a week that the temps dipped below freezing.
Our houses, office buildings, schools, and all the respective heating systems weren't designed to maintain heat for this long of a period. We have a natural gas furnace in our house so we're comfortable. But many people have had their heat pumps freeze over. Not good.

My office and my Sweetie's turned the heat off over the weekend and it took most of the day for the buildings to warm up. My office was 62 degrees this morning. The heating system at G-Man's middle school burnt out on Friday and still wasn't fixed today. He said it was 58 degrees in his science class. Good thing I taught the boy to dress in layers and *gasp* he listened.
The funniest thing so far was this morning looking at the frost on my neighbor's roof. I noticed there was frost on the solar panels for their pool heater. Trust me, it's there. The next door neighbor's solar panels were frosted too. Only I couldn't get a good photo because we were running late.
The good news is that we should be back up to the 60's by the end of the week. So feel free to come down if you need to defrost!
UPDATE: More frost photos from Tuesday morning (wake-up temp 31 degrees)....

The building we work in is well over a hundred years old. It was 22 degrees here this morning. Thankfully they did leave the heat on over the weekend. But it really does no good. We have patients calling and canceling appointments because they say its to cold to come in. I know its cold but it took you 6 months to get this apt and its going to be another 3 or 4 before you get another one. Good grief people. At least we aren't having to dig our cars out of the snow to go places. Call me to complain when you can't find your car cause it's buried. Sorry can you tell I was on the phone all day rescheduling people. Ready for some warmer weather.
Ladies of the South... You have my sincere sympathy. WE are expecting 40s here from Wednesday on. Every one here is quite excited. In fact we had sunshine on Sunday for the first in about 10 days.
In the spirit of good will, may Mr. Heat Miser blow warm winds and balmy breeze your way.
Cheers for the North! :-)
I wish just thinking of warm sunny weather would get us all warm. Can't wait for the temps to pick up!
The frost is so beautiful. I was just admiring it this morning on our ground cover at work. Of course you could also observe it on our toilet seats at work--or so it felt. Glad my fat behind didn't stick to it.
Holy Moly... you live in Florida... you shouldn't HAVE to worry about the heating! You have my sympathy!
