10 Questions for Success

Each week I get marketing-related news articles sent to my work email via the Linkedin network. I honestly don’t remember signing up for this service. Nonetheless, I sometimes come across an article that I find interesting and/or pertinent to my current work environment.

This week the article 10 Questions That Create Success caught my eye.

I was surprised by the questions. Even more notable, I was caught off guard. I imagined canned, cookie cutter, interview-type questions.

Instead, I read questions that really made me think. Questions that I wasn’t sure I could answer.

I’ve returned to the article several times already. So I’ve decided to attempt to answer the questions. Right here, right now. On my blog. In writing. (Duh)

The author proclaims that,

Real success comes from the quality of your relationships and the emotions that you experience each day.

So true. I totally agree. But can I answer the questions?

Here it goes...

1. Have I made certain that those I love feel loved?
YES! How do I know this? Because I feel their love in return.

2. Have I done something today that improved the world?
Um? Does recycling count? How about this… My husband and I are raising two sons to become productive members of society and loving husbands and fathers.

3. Have I conditioned my body to be more strong, flexible, and resilient?
I took the stairs in lieu of the elevator at the office. I ate healthy and drank lots of water. However, I did take the golf cart across the campus today rather than walk because the oak pollen is HIGH and I wasn’t in the mood for an asthma attack.

4. Have I reviewed and honed my plans for the future?
Um? I know what my plans are for the weekend.

5. Have I acted in private with the same integrity I exhibit in public?
This could be a trick question. Who doesn’t have a sarcastic monolog running through their brains at all times??? And only certain things are done in the privacy of the ladies' room. I think the question is asking if I was two-faced today or have done anything to violate my moral integrity and the question is NO! Or would that be YES!? Either way, I believe my integrity is intact.

6. Have I avoided unkind words and deeds?
YES! Mom would be proud because her mantra of “If you can’t say anything nice…” really took hold during my formative years. Hence, the sarcastic monolog.

7. Have I accomplished something worthwhile?
See above reference to raising two sons. Oh, that and I went to work today to ensure continuation of awesome healthcare benefits.

8. Have I helped someone less fortunate?
Um? Crap, that’s my 3rd Um. I might have to work on that one.

9. Have I collected some wonderful memories?
G-Man got up and got ready for school ahead of schedule today. That’s one for the memory books!

10. Have I felt grateful for the incredible gift of being alive?
ABSOLUTELY!

Can you answer these 10 questions?
